Barack Obama Only Hope of Repealing ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’, Democrats Say
Democrats convening the first congressional hearing on the military’s 'Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell' policy since its enactment 15 years ago say electing Barack Obama to the White House is the only hope at getting it repealed. While Obama supports a repeal of 'Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell' and says he will work with military leaders to get it done, his opponent John McCain thinks the existing policy is working.

Military Officials Call for an End to ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’
A new study released this week by a team of retired senior flag and general officers from the U.S. military has concluded that the ban on openly gay service members is counterproductive and should end. The nonpartisan study group has a combined century and a half of military service from all four branches of the military, and it marks the first time a Marine Corps general has ever called publicly for an end to the gay ban.

4th Annual Images In Advertising Awards
Commercial Closet Association has announced the nominees for the 4th annual Images In Advertising Awards, recognizing companies that best demonstrated inclusion of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender individuals (GLBT) in mainstream advertising campaigns that appeared in 2007. The award winners will be announced during a ceremony on July 28 at New World Stages in New York City.

Nearly One in Four Gay and Lesbian Adults Lack Health Insurance
According to a recent national survey conducted by Harris Interactive®, nearly one in four gay and lesbian adults lack health insurance and are nearly twice as likely as their heterosexual counterparts to have no health insurance coverage. When asked, 22 percent of gay and lesbian survey respondents reported having no health insurance, compared to only 12 percent of heterosexual adults in the survey.

When my partner and I decided to move from the Southeast to a large, vibrant, liberal city in the upper Northwest, we knew that it would be different. We expected employer-based partner benefits, we knew we could register as Domestic Partners, and we knew that we would find gay and lesbian friends. I also hoped that when I got a job, being gay just wouldn’t be an issue.

The most recent example targets Doug Manchester, owner of the Manchester Grand Hyatt Hotel in San Diego, California.
